Metske in one of his glass houses at Pannel Organic

Pannel Organic

Metske Van der Laan at Pannel Organic has been supplying Infinity since he started his growing business in 2005.

Nestled in a beautiful valley near Winchelsea, his growing fields are ideally situated with the surrounding marshland and a neighbouring private bird sanctuary offering a haven for wildlife.

The soil fertility is maintained via a system of careful crop rotation, using green manures and allowing areas to grow fallow every few years, and thus, further benefiting the abundant wildlife. Throughout the wetter months a large reservoir collects rainwater that is then used to irrigate the fields in the drier seasons when the crops need it the most.

Metske's plants are lovingly brought on from seed in his glasshouses and are then transplanted out into the fields or grown on under glass. Tender bunched baby beetroot, a supply of fresh salads and real baby spinach leaves are amongst the impeccable offerings from Pannel Organic that arrive in our store from March through to late autumn.

Pannel Organic also work closely with another of our suppliers, Hankham Organics, sharing equipment and even combining deliveries to our store to further save on food miles and resources. Similarly, we have a system of returnable vegetable crates with Pannel Organic, a simple measure and one that saves a lot of waste.
