We are 40 this year!
18/05/11
It was 40 years ago, in 1971, that two friends opened the first Infinity Foods shop in an old converted terraced house in Church Street. Their vegetarian wholefoods and freshly baked goods proved so popular that by 1973 they had moved Infinity Foods to its current location today on North Road in the North Laine. In 1979 the business partners moved towards converting the company into a worker's co-operative which they duly did. For the last 32 years Infinity Foods has been run collectively by its workers.
For us and many of our customers who have clear memories of those early days it doesn’t seem possible that we are celebrating this momentous milestone. To have come this far it is thanks to the integrity and support of the people of Brighton who decided to commit to a more healthy and ethical way of eating from the very beginning through to the present day.
So we’ll be pulling out all the stops and throwing a big street party bash this summer for all to enjoy. This will be held on the 2nd of July in Jubilee square (in front of the library). Details are yet to be finalised but there will be a food market with many of our local suppliers there and lots of live entertainment throughout the day. Watch this space for more information over the coming weeks. If you wish you can click here to read more about our humble beginnings!
